When Salman, SRK, Hrithik flexed their muscle power to replace heroines
Here's the latest update from the world of Bollywood. We bet you wouldn't want to miss this. Read on for details... Why are actresses at the mercy of their male co-stars?

Kriti Sanon has been roped in for the leading lady of Kick 2 (Kriti Sanon beats Jacqueline and Sonakshi to grab Kick 2, January 29) and Salman Khan has a lot to do with it. Buzz is, the superstar didn’t want Jacqueline Fernandez in the sequel and was interested in pairing up with Kriti. Sajid Nadiadwala, who will be directing the film, was happy to comply. This is one of the many instances where the heroine has been chosen on the actor’s insistence. Take a look at the other cases.
Salman Khan-Parineeti Chopra-Anushka Sharma
Another case of Sallu dictating who should be his leading lady. Parineeti Chopra was a strong contender for the female lead of Sultan. It was said that even Yash Raj Films head honcho Aditya Chopra was certain about the Ishaqzaade girl. But we hear, Salman wasn’t keen on teaming up with Pari. So he nixed her chances and in came Anushka Sharma.
Hrithik Roshan-Kangana Ranaut-To be decided
Though Hrithik Roshan never acknowledged it, rumours were rife that he and Kangana Ranaut were very much together. And they ended on such a bad note that the Bang Bang actor was sure he didn’t want to have anything to do with her – least of all, a film. So when the makers of Aashiqui 3 zeroed in on Kangana for the female lead, Hrithik put his foot down – rope in another actress or I’m out. Next thing you know, Kangana was dropped from the project. The makers are currently scouting for the female lead.
Akshay Kumar-Nargis Fakhri-Lisa Haydon
Akshay Kumar had signed on Nargis Fakhri for his home production, The Shaukeens. When the actress was offered Spy, she didn’t bat an eyelid before giving a chunk of her dates, which she had allotted for The Shaukeens, to the Hollywood film. Nargis hoped that Akshay would understand her predicament. However, a furious Akki threw her out of the film and roped in Lisa Haydon instead.
Shahid Kapoor-Jiah Khan-Genelia D’Souza
Shahid Kapoor and Jiah Khan had started shooting for Chance Pe Dance, but the actress was shown the door halfway through the shoot. Reason? Jiah reportedly got over-friendly with Shahid – something that didn’t go down well with his then girlfriend Priyanka Chopra. Jiah was soon replaced by Genelia D’Souza.
Shah Rukh Khan-Aishwarya Rai -Rani Mukerji
Aishwarya Rai was the first choice for the female lead of Chalte Chalte. In fact, the actress had even shot for more than half of the film. However, all hell broke loose when her then boyfriend Salman Khan landed up on the sets one day and created a huge ruckus. SRK, who was also producing this film, didn’t take this well and asked Ash to walk out of the film. Rani Mukerji came in the nick of time to rescue the film. And it was this very movie that marked the beginning of Ash-Rani’s cold war.
No doubt, Bollywood is in the jaws of a male trap. Of late, we have seen many women driving the films to victories at the ticket windows. Several articles have been written on the advent of female heroes in Bollywood and I am not going into that. But isn't it time that our male actors are not empowered of deciding their female counterpart in a film?
